Do you practice the pause? When you’re feeling overwhelmed, when your kids aren’t listening or cooperating and you can feel your blood pressure rising, and you know an angry outburst from you is imminent, give yourself a time-out and BREATHE.

While yelling can release some of the pressure, you’re only left feeling guilty and your kids are hurt and confused. When we get to this point, it’s often because we have tried everything in our parenting arsenal and we don’t know what else to do.

Don’t forget that Allah swt is there to help us. He asks that we try our best and ask Him for help – so when you’ve reached the point where you need to pause, here are some dua’s that you can recite to seek His help to bring harmony and peace to your home and give you the confidence to be a better mother:

Ask for forgiveness

لاَ إِلَهَ إِلَّا أنْـت سُـبْحانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْـتُ مِنَ الظّـالِميـن
The words of the blessed prophet Yunus (a.s.) when He was trapped in the belly of the whale and beseeched our Lord for help and forgiveness. Laa ilaaha illa anta subhaanaka inni kuntu minna dhalimeen. There is none worthy of worship but You, You are far exalted and above all weaknesses. Surely, I was among the wrongdoers

Ask for Allah’s help

Ya Ḥayy Ya Qayyūm, bi-Rahmatika astagheeth. ‘O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, in Your Mercy I seek relief.’ (Tirmidhi). When the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) felt distressed, He would say this dua’.

Ask for Allah’s mercy

O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye, and rectify for me all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshiped except You.” [Abu Dawood]

Praise Allah

“Allahumma anta Al-Salam wa minka Al-Salaam. Tabarakta ya Dha Al-Jalali wa Al-Ikram.” ‘O Allah, You are Al-Salaam and from You is all peace, blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor.’

May your hearts be peaceful and your homes joyful. Ameen ❤
